Van der Vaart, RafaelSubmitted by herlonger on Fri, 2009-07-03 02:43.
Rafael van der Vaart was born to a Spanish mother named Lolita (from Chiclana de la Frontera, Ca¡diz) and a Dutch father named Ramon. Before joining AFC Ajax, he played for a local club called De Kennemers based in Beverwijk. He grew up on a caravan park living a "gypsy life" and often imagined he was Roma¡rio while playing football with his father. It was there that he learned how to play football and, at the age of 10, he joined the AFC Ajax academy. Huntelaar, Klaas JanSubmitted by herlonger on Fri, 2009-07-03 02:23.
Huntelaar is a classic "number 9" striker with good technique and athleticism, who can score all types of goals with either feet and with his head. He has been compared in playing style to Marco van Basten and Fernando Morientes. Former Netherlands national team coach Louis van Gaal has been quoted saying about the player "in the penalty box, he is the best player in the world, bar none." Nicknamed 'The Hunter', Huntelaar played previously for PSV, De Graafschap, AGOVV, Heerenveen and Ajax, before transferring to Real Madrid in January 2009. Albiol, RaulSubmitted by herlonger on Wed, 2009-07-01 03:18.
Albiol's father Miguel was a famous player for modest Benidorm CD. Whilst his father still had contacts at Benidorm, the son joined the side's under-9 and in a friendly match against Valencia CF he played impressively, signing on trial with the Spanish first division side. He made his first team debut on September 24, 2003, in a UEFA Cup first-round contest against AIK Stockholm, but spent the first year still registered with the B side.
