This time around both clubs have European ambition, which intensifies the drama on and off the field.
Lazio in recent years, have had lots of financial troubles, but the club has come back and has organised the financial aspects. Lazio then built the team around youth, as top players
were out of Lazio's reach. Though they've Lured back Di Canio, and discussed here is his controversial Salutes.
On the other hand, Roma, hasnt dazzled into their bank account, but have maintained top Italian Players such as Totti and Montella.

 Round 24 Serie A
Struggling Brescia had only earned three points in its previous nine matches but boosted its chances of escaping relegation with a win over Cagliari. Fiorentina ended a run of three straight defeats since Dino Zoff took over as coach last month with this win against relegation-threatened Parma.
Serie A leaders Juventus got the better of fourth-placed Udinese to get its title charge back on track following consecutive defeats against Sampdoria and Bologna.
Messina twice surrendered the lead despite enjoying a one-man advantage for most of the match after the 25th-minute sending-off of Siena defender Daniele Portanova.
Lazio had earned just one point in its previous five games and seemed to be heading for a disappointing draw against bottom-placed Atalanta after first-half goals by striker Fabio Bazzani and Stephen Makinwa cancelled each other out.
Inter Milan moved into third in the division on 42 points, 11 behind leaders Juventus thanks to two free kicks by Sinisa Mihajlovic.

And on Juve's big day it was almost inevitable that it was captain and talisman Del Piero who should net the opener, the Italy international picking up a pass from Ibrahimovic before lashing a right-footed shot past Cagliari keeper Alex Brunner. |
| Download
Trezeguet made it 2-0 in the 51st minute after following up a Ibrahimovic shot and then Appiah made it three with a stunning goal in what could possibly be his final appearance for Juve. |
| Download Juve went ahead 3 - 0 to surely clinch the championship now, thanks to Appiah. |
Download
Juve did not have it all their own way though and two minutes after Appiah's strike, Cagliari pulled a goal back through Zola.
The former Parma and Chelsea star had only been on the pitch five minutes having replaced Massimo Brambilla when he found the back of the net after Juve goalkeeper Antonio Chimenti had saved Rolando Bianchi's shot. |
| Download
Gianluca Pessotto fired a cross into the six-yard box and Trezeguet was on hand to head the ball in via the post for his second of the afternoon. |
| Download
Massimo Gobbi crossed in from the left and Zola produced a superb right-footed finish that Chimenti could only stand and watch as it flew into the net. |

 Round 35 Serie A
Juventus took a big step towards a 28th Italian league title with a 1-0 victory over rivals AC Milan which moves them three points clear with three games remaining.
Third-placed Inter Milan won 3-0 at lowly Brescia with two goals from Nigerian Obafemi Martins but the battle for the fourth Champions League qualification slot remains tight with Udinese and Sampdoria winning to remain level on 59 points.
Sampdoria beat Lecce 3-0 in Genoa while a Vincenzo Iaquinta goal gave Udinese a 1-0 win away to Lazio.
Parma's battle against the drop was boosted with a 2-1 victory over Roma which moves them to four points clear of the relegation zone - level with crumbling Roma on 40 points.
Roma have not won in their last ten games, picking up just two draws.
Fiorentina also climbed out of the bottom three with a 2-1 win away to fellow strugglers Chievo -- Fabrizio Miccoli and Valeri Bojinov on target for Dino Zoff's side.
Livorno, beaten 6-4 at Parma last week suffered another high scoring defeat with a 6-3 loss at home to Siena after having defender Fabio Galante sent off in the 18th minute.

Substitute Rolando Bianchi gave a warning in the 89th minute, missing a great chance to equalise by failing to connect with a cross when just five yards out.
But in injury time Gobbi stole ahead of Ivan Franceschini to head Blanchi's cross into the top corner with goalkeeper Salvatore Soviero a mere spectator. |

Camoranesi was once again the provider, as he lofted a free-kick perfectly onto the head of
Zalayeta, who steered his header into the corner of the net. |

To their credit, the visitors reduced the deficit almost immediately, when Giunti's speculative free-kick from long range completely bamboozled Juve goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, who could only watch as the ball flew past him. |

Just when it looked as though it would be all-level at the break, the home side edged their noses back in front in the second minute of first-half stoppage time.
And it was Vucinic who stepped up with his first, making the most of a second error of the afternoon from Oscar Lopez to convert a Marco Cassetti cross past Angelo Peruzzi. |

The signs looked good for the visitors when Francesco Flachi struck in the 27th minute. Christian Doni's long range effort found Flachi unmarked in the penalty area, and he fired home to make it 1-0 to Sampdoria. |

However, Samp's lead was short-lived as Zampagna replied with a fine individual effort four minutes later. Zampagna tenaciously won a tackle on the edge of the Sampdoria penalty area before shooting low across the goal and into the far corner. |
| See
It was another fine goal by Zampagna as Salvatore Aronica picked up the ball on the edge of the Samp box and played a delightful one-two with D'Agostino. Aronica then played an inch-perfect ball into the danger area for Zampagna to score with a well judged header. |

Sergio Volpi drew Samp level after 75 minutes after a scramble in the Messina penalty area. The ball rolled out to Volpi, who needed no second invitation to fire home the vital score for Samp. |

Gilardino opened the scoring for Parma after three minutes when an intricate passing move involving Fabio Simplicio and Domenico Morfeo resulted in the latter supplying the striker for an easy tap in. |
| See
Lucarelli, though, started his one-man crusade to avoid defeat when his expertly-timed run beat the home side's offside trap and he coolly slotted past Sebastien Frey from 12 yards after
22 minutes. |

Roberto Donadoni's team moved in front two minutes later through the same source, when David Balleri's free-kick found Lucarelli at the back post and he nodded home from close range. |
| See
Andrea Pisanu collected the ball on the edge of the area from a corner and fired off a crisp drive, which Livorno keeper Marco Amelia parried, only for the advancing Pisanu to score from the rebound. |

Morfeo then conjured a majestic volleyed pass with the outside of his boot into the path of Gilardino, who instantly controlled it before rounding Amelia to roll the ball into an empty net. |

The Parma fans were barely given time to draw breath after a mesmeric first half as Simplicio added a fourth minutes after the restart.
Pisanu, who was involved in most of the home side's best moves crossed for Fabio Simplicio who thundered the ball home. |
| See
Pisanu was then reduced to the role of pantomime villain when he handled the ball in his own area as the game took yet another turn. Lucarelli stepped up to claim his hat-trick with a well dispatched penalty.
However he was ordered to re-take the kick because of encroachment. Unflustered by the decision, the lethal marksman stepped up to find the back of the net again. |

And it was the Parma striker who found the net with a sharp shot on the turn after a clever ball from Morfeo, who again superbly played the role of architect. |
| See
Lucarelli was determined not to be outshone and headed in his fourth after exchanging headers with Igor Protti. |
| See
Gilardino, nevertheless, would eventually have the final word as he and Morfeo again combined to devastating effect for the striker to claim his fourth of a wonderful match. |

The game started brightly for Roma as Simone Perrotta put them in front in the very first minute.
The goal came courtesy of a thunderous Olivier Dacourt strike that Brescia goalkeeper Luca Castellazzi could only manage to parry away into the path of Perrotta who coolly sidefooted the ball into the back of the net to make it 1-0 to the home side. |

The miss proved costly for Roma, as Brescia made their way back upfield and were awarded a free-kick on the edge of the home side's box. Wome stepped up and struck a fine left-footed effort past the stranded Curci in the Roma goal. |

Daniele Di Rossi latched onto Mancini's cross and scored with a fine header. |

Brescia responded immediately however, when Matteo Ferrari chested an attempted clearance straight into the path of Caracciolo, who finished well from close range. |
