The German team played very well until the French player Zinedine Zidane had a crack. He got a high ball from the left defender, Roberto Carlos, who was down the right, and scored, with turn around volley. The keeper, Hans Jorg Butt had no chance and failed to parry it. Real Madrid finally won 2-1.
